  • The SAE-500® Severe Duty is the preferred choice for its great arc performance, design simplicity, reliability and ruggedness! Designed especially for pipeline welding and field construction in harsh environments. For demanding jobs that call for high amperage capabilities, the SAE-500 offers up to 500 amps for DC stick welding and 3,000 watts of AC power. The SAE-500 is powered by a heavy duty Deutz® diesel engine, which offers low maintenance and long life for hassle-free operation. Add wire welding capability with the optional CV adapter.

Features

  • Rugged Construction – Designed for the offshore salt spray environment with a heavy gauge case made up of stainless steel and hot-dip galvanized sheet metal parts. Features stainless steel brush holder assemblies, all copper coils, coated radiator, laminations and wire connections, and sealed switches.
  • Dual Continuous Current Control – Equipped with a continuous current control that used in conjunction with a fine tuning control allows for precise setting of amps, volts, and slope for a digging, penetrating arc for root beads or a soft, buttery arc for stacking iron on the fill and cap passes. Tremendous control over the arc helps to overcome the most challenging joints on the job.
  • High Duty Cycle Welding Output – 100% duty cycle at 400 amps and 60% duty cycle at 500 amps for the most demanding applications.
  • Industrial Diesel Engine – Powered by a 65.7 hp Deutz® TD2.9L4 turbocharged diesel engine, which meets EPA Tier 4 Final compliance.
  • Safety Enhanced – Engine air intake shutdown device and optional spark arrestor available to meet mineral management services code.
